Once when Gautam Buddha was giving discourse to people, one young lady came running to him with desperation and tears and he could see a little toddler in her hand who had just left for heavenly abode due to snake bite...She was none other than "Kisa Gautami"...Most of us had read about....Desperate as any mother could be at loss of her only child...She asked Tathagat..." Oh Lord, u are a living God, please give back life to my only child and couldn't stop her incessant tears"... Buddha as always was alert, composed and in his kindest form....Knew no one on Earth can decide anything other than nature...But what did he do....? He could not certainly make the child alive...But taught an eternal lesson of wisdom to her and to the world...Which not only changed her sorrow to compassion, her denial to acceptance...But that teaching helped her to change the way she looked at it and to help innumerable bleeding hearts... Buddha didn't change any situation which no one can...But He changed her way of looking at it... He asked her to get a fistful of mustard seeds from a family where no one has ever died... to give her child's life back as he knew it's not easy to explain her the eternal truth of birth and death... Thinking this to be such a simple and mundane task...She happily went through the town.... From morning to evening... Knocked each door...Only to be told more and more truth .... Eternal truth on death's universal presence...Came back distraught and tired to the learned, the kind, the compassionate Buddha's abode and surrendered...Buddha explained her calmly...She understood the meaning of not only death but life and living and dedicated her life to serve the humanity...What did actually Buddha teach her ? Buddha just taught her to look at things as they actually are and not to see as they appear to be... Through her own experience...the greatest of all wisdom...Today also the same truth holds good...His eternal teaching is more relevant today to us than ever...
